Heather brings over 18 years experience in the industry with some of Alberta’s most successful brokers. Heather is very well known in the Strathmore area and her knowledge and expertise in the insurance market is second to none. She achieved Honors on her CAIB designation.

Heather has served as a volunteer in the IBAA (Insurance Bureau of Alberta Association) helping to develop programs, mentoring and marking CPIB exams.

Heather is also the website content manager for the very popular “turnerstips.com” industry insurance information website.

Here is a short heads up on the new Distracted Driving Law – See the link for more Details

As of December 1, 2010,  Alberta’s new distracted driving law comes into play – with the law taking effect May/June of 2011.  It’s touted as one of the toughest and most comprehensive laws in Canada, simply, you are not going to be able to hold your cell phone to your ear while you talk nor are you permitted to review or send e-mails while you drive – a copy outlining the new no-no’s is linked here.

The fine, once the law takes effect, is $172.00

If you haven’t done so already, this is the time to set your corporate policies with regard to cell phone use and other activities while driving.

The following is email we received from Bob Higginson regarding the recent experience he had with Aviva Rep Bill Yates. It’s feedback like this from customers that really makes our job a joy. We’re looking forward to helping  you in the same way as we did Bob.

Re: My experience with Aviva Rep Bill Yates.

In today’s “do more with less” corporate philosophies and down turn in structuring, we are forever voice mailed, forgotten, passed on  or just simply not prioritized in the manner we would like to see, leaving the Customer to often chase resolutions on their own, this has not been the case with my recent involvement with Aviva and Aviva Rep Bill Yates.

I was in a MVA in mid July, almost immediately Bill Yates was engaged and contacted me to explain what my benefits were, what my options were and who my contacts would be. I was in a terrible pinch with injuries and my vehicle was badly damaged and out of commission. My family vacation was just 2 weeks away and I needed a vehicle to tow a boat and haul gear for a family of 5, Bill immediately offered me ideas and solutions to get around this as you can not rent trucks though the normal channels that have tow packages, my family had a great vacation, with the boat, despite my personal injuries and inability to enjoy the water as much as I would have liked.

Bill aligned me with a longer term rental solution taking me into late September and even when my own rental coverage ran out he re-assured me that this was no problem and he would look after it through the other parties’ policy, and he did immediately.

Bill provided me contact information to everyone who would assist me from the auto-body repair company to the medical division of Aviva. Bill ensured everything required to return my vehicle to me in great condition was done, often discussing repair concerns directly with the repair shop and adjusters.

Being injured and loosing use of a vehicle turns out to be more stressful than I previously could have appreciated. I had so many questions and frustrations, each time I called Bill for assistance, or a question, or his help, he was there. He answered his calls personally, or, the few times I had to leave a voicemail he was very quick to return my call, usually within 1-2 hours,,, and with an answer ready for me!!

Bill did what he said he’d do, every time and on time, he was courteous, professional and very knowledgeable, I just couldn’t imagine having to have gone through this process without his assistance, guidance and outstanding Customer Service,,,, so uncommon today with many businesses, it was all a relatively seamless experience, how incredibly refreshing!!

I work for an International Company and I know first had how difficult it can be to “do more with less” in today’s economy and yet maintain high Customer Service Values and personal integrity,,, Bill did this and a lot more,,, I just can’t tell you enough about how outstanding he was and how much value he adds to the name Aviva.

I hear about so many nightmare experiences with Insurance companies,,, today I tell everyone I know about this experience, they ask me who I am insured through,,,, word of mouth is powerful!

In short, I wanted to send a heart-felt and powerful message,  as a company, Aviva Canada has at least one VERY outstanding individual working for them, dedicated, ethical, knowledgeable, honest, sincere and truly 100% Customer focused. Bill Yates is truly an asset to your firm and to each of his Customers, I hope he is acknowledged and appreciated by your firm for his incredible efforts to serve you and his Customers.
